Menu Impressions:
Considering The Corner House is a cafe/restaurant, there is a large amount of dine in options for food; with a solid drinks menu. Where you can expect all the drinks you would usually find.
Timing & Busy-ness:
Saturday 11am – busy outside with the market but it being spacious and quiet indoors.
Overall Review:
Dark, chic and very stylish where the first works that came to mind when walking into this cafe/restaurant. Their use of mood lighting, paired with the countless amounts of modern art on the walls, with some art pieces being on sale, made me feel like I was entering a high society luxury restaurant. Rather than just another cafe on the high street. This was a very pleasant surprise with the drastic change from farmers market on the high street to high society made me take a second to take it all in. With every art piece on the walls both matching the aesthetic of the restaurant, but feeling completely unique and meaningful in their own right.
Ordering a flat white, the coffee tasted darker and a bit more grounded than the coffee I usually go for. However, I really enjoyed the change as even though it tasted a bit darker, it had a sweet after taste that that was encouraged by the enjoyable amount of froth on the coffee. Drinking this coffee outside, amongst the rowdiness of a farmers market, it felt soothing, warming and relaxing.
After speaking breathily with the staff, they serve lavazza rossa. This took me by surprise, as Lavazza is never a brand I felt drawn to, to try at home. Especially as I have often seen a half opened bag of lavazza coffee being left in cupboards and forgotten. The flavour and the coffee experience I had at with this coffee has changed my outlook on lavazza, where I have started to look out for it in shops to make it into my next batch of coffee orders.
Final Thoughts:
This establishment is a place where you can invite someone to if you want to impress them. The proactive and quick service ensures you are never waiting long for your order, while still making the time to ensure everything has been done right.
